Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
and the Center for Puerto Rico joined forces to offer a specialized Master Program in Community Development under the Department of Public Policy Administration.  The program will be offered at the facilities of the Center for Puerto Rico and will target leaders, professionals and citizens whom are dedicated to community development efforts in the Island.


The Community Development specialization is designed to provide students with theoretical and applied exposure to domestic and international aspects of power, policy, advocacy, and resource allocation to address urban public administration.

Students will gain skills to be a professional administrator and policy expert in the subject of community development by using the community region of Camden, South Jersey, and Philadelphia.


  1. Completion of 42 credits course work
  2. Eighteen (18) credits Core of Common Knowledge courses
  3. Twelve (12) credits of Public Management specialization courses
  4. Three (3) credits of Internship (unless exempted by MPA Director)
  5. Three (3) credits of Final Capstone Research Workshop
  6. Six-Nine (6-9) credits from specialized elective courses (student to choose)

Community Development Internship – Required (3 Credits)

Capstone Course  – Required (3 Credits)
