Jumpstart hosts End-of-the-Year festivities for preschoolers

May 14, 2010
Concluding its second year of early literacy mentoring, Jumpstart at Rutgers–Camden held its annual end-of-the-year celebration on May 7th at LEAP Academy and Respond.
Together, parents, teachers, and staff gathered to recognize the progress of their preschoolers and to acknowledge the contribution made by over 50 Rutgers students who served at Corps members at Jumpstart.
Forty-three preschoolers at LEAP and Respond were presented with Jumpstart certificates for successfully completing the program and shared memories of some of their favorite Jumpstart activities. Jumpstart members and team leaders also spoke about their experiences during the year.
Parents and guests were treated to refreshments, a slide show, and scrapbooks featuring photos of their children and their mentors in classrooms and at Jumpstart events throughout the year.
Jumpstart is currently recruiting Rutgers students for the 2010-2011 academic year. If you or someone you know is interested in gaining valuable career experience while preparing preschoolers in Camden City for kindergarten, apply now. Jumpstart offers work-study and academic credit opportunities. Volunteers are also welcome to apply.
