As part of a public research institution, Rutgers University, ELRA is designed as a laboratory for the documentation and study of early childhood learning and development.
The ELRA building is outfitted with the latest observation areas and technology, including a state-of-the-art audio/visual recording system.
Researchers from Rutgers (and other collaborating universities and organizations) observe and study childhood learning and behavior directly and through video and audio. Scholars then analyze the data to create new studies which will inform and develop new practices in early childhood education at the local, state and national level.
