Cellists Emilio & Cara Colón
Cellists Emilio and Cara Colón, Directors of the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico (ICOPR), are distinguished leaders in the world of classical music. Emilio is an acclaimed cellist, conductor, composer, and faculty member at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Cara, an accomplished cellist, serves as Vice President of the American Cello Institute. In May, the Colóns performed for LEAP Academy students and families in Sabana Llana, Puerto Rico, enriching the students’ appreciation of classical music and providing a powerful example of professional artistry. Their work through ICOPR promotes access to the arts and intercultural collaboration across Puerto Rico and beyond.
Pianist Steven Vanhauwaert
Hailed by the Los Angeles Times for his ‘impressive clarity, sense of structure and monster technique’, Steven Vanhauwaert has appeared as a soloist at the National Center of the Performing Arts in Beijing, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, and the Concertgebouw. He has recorded on the Hortus, Sonarti, ECM, and Bridge labels; several of his albums have received 5 diapasons in France. Mr. Vanhauwaert is a Steinway Artist.
